About
Us
“St. John’s Reformed Church exists to inspire people to know God through following Jesus.”
Our basic belief is that people were created to know God as Creator, heartily love Him, and live with Him in eternal life to glorify and praise Him. (Taken from the Heidelberg Catechism, question #7).
This means that our desires at St. John’s is to be the type of local church which the Holy Spirit uses to inspire people to know God. As Jesus prayed in John 17:3, knowing God is the very meaning of eternal life – “And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.”
The second and equal part of our mission is to live by the idea that God can only be known through following Jesus. Following Jesus is more than praying a simple prayer of faith and waiting on heaven! Jesus calls us to a live as His disciples/apprentices - learning to deny ourselves, to take up the cross, and to follow Him. Following Jesus means being formed into His likeness through reading and meditating on the Word of God and spending time in prayer.

BELIEF
Reformed Christianity is the awareness that faith in Jesus is completely through the God who prepares and sustains our salvation. This means we look to Jesus as both the founder and perfector of our faith. As a Christian community, we remain committed to the Reformed ‘Doctrines of Grace’ as the most faithful manner in which to read, understand, and live what is found in the entirety of the Christian Scriptures.
Our church affirms the Heidelberg Catechism.*

Our church also affirms both the Apostles’* and Nicene* Creeds.

As our name implies, we are a Reformed church.
