Why do we use the ESV Bible?
What is the ESV Bible? The ESV simply stands for the English Standard Version of the Bible.
The ESV came out in 2001 as an adaption of the Revised Standard Version which was used in many different churches and denominations around the world.
The ESV is perfect for those who want to grow deeper in their relationship with Jesus. The ESV is great because it is a very literal translation of the early Hebrew and Greek manuscripts yet without a overly formalized word for word translation. The ESV is known for its accuracy and literal qualities to help you get at what its inspired authors meant.
The ESV is also perfect for you maturing in Jesus as it’s written at an 8 th -10 th grade reading level. This means that while it’s translated into modern English, it’s not afraid to use theological words that mean what they mean! In other words, the ESV uses the words the authors used in order that their meanings would continue in today’s Church. This is valuable because it encourages us to really study and discover what the Holy Spirit is saying to us about the work of the gospel.
